hey i ordered me a remote off of ebay for my max and i just wanted to make sure i do this correctly, when i went to the dealership they told me they had to reset something before they could program a new keyless remote for my maxima, i figured they are talking about the ecu right? do i just turn the screw clockwise and them back the other way to reset it?

 

Umm...I didn't read anything about resseting the ECU, but here's a link that you can read for yourself: http://home.earthlink.net/~maxfaq/ There should be another site out there that scanned a page out of a nissan service manual, i'll post if i run by it again. Hope this little bit of info helps.

 

Well they guy tried to program one at the dealership and it wouldn't work , he said it was because my previous one was still in the memory or something and they had to reset it. He wanted to charg 200 dollars total for the remote and the resetting BS so i just left.

 

LOL!! You just left?? Did you ever go back?? Did you just leave while he was talking to you?? Oh my... LOL!!

That's why I hate dealerships...

Try these programming instructions (works on my 95):

1. Enter car and lock doors from inside
2. Insert key in ignition and remove 5-6 times until hazard lights flash twice.
3. Re-insert key into ignition and turn to 1st position (not START)
4. Press LOCK button on remote until hazard lights flash twice
5. Turn key to OFF position and remove
6. Unlock doors, exit car & test remote

My remote loses its brains about twice a year and the 2nd time I went to the dealership to have them reset the remote I asked them how to do it and they showed me. (This was about the ONLY good thing they have done or tried to do to me.)
