Could be from a busted CV boot. Check behind the two front wheels, there should be this thing that looks like a 5-spd shift boot. Turn your wheels completely to one side, then check. Having the wheels turned will expand the boot. If broken, need to replace asap.

Same noise here. Do you need to to just replace the boot or clean everything out and then replace it?

I know it is not the CV boot I know that sound. I think I may just need some power steering fluid. I will add some to see if that stops it.

steering noise

Son I got the same problem with my 97 Max and it only happens when the car is dead cold in the morning. I did notice the power steering luquid was a little low, which I filled. It stated happening when it got cold.

it happened to me a few days ago. it was the steering fluid. i filled it up. i went to go get my 60,000 mile service and told the dealer about it. he said a clamp was loose and it needed tightening.

To answer your question... if you plan to do it yourself, yep, clean out everything, replace boot, and refill oil/grease that used to be there. OR any mechanic will know what to do.

Otherwise refill steering fluid.
