O/D Light / Transmission problem

Hello,

I own a 1997 Maxima SE AUTO that is having a problem.

With the O/D light on and in (D) it goes off and the transmission acts as if the O/D light is off (with the o/d button out on the shifter). The light flickers with touch to the shifter. Something must be loose within the shifter.

Has anyone ever had this problem? Any feedback would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm gonna have to say a bad ground, or possibly switch, I'd check the ground first, I wouldn't know how to go about it but maybe one of these guys will.

sort of similar problem.... my od light doesnt work, and D2 and D1 do not work .... took it to nissan, they said it was a blown fuse... ok so that sucked, i got it back happend again, soooo i am taking it to nissan again, this time its going to be an extended stay... but i know its the auto trans control module or some such thing that went haywire.... its happend to other org members, but we'll see what nissan uncovers. good luck, its probably just a short somewhere.... if you are still covered under warranty you should have them take a look at it.
