Attention--Max Owners w/coilovers
I have the ground controls w/ Tokico shocks. Ride isn't that bad, it's stiffer than my old Intrax, but this was expected. But the shocks are woefully underdamped. The main draw of the Cattman's over ground controls is that he has specially modified AGX shocks which can control the springs. I'm getting Koni's sometime so hopefully the ride becomes more controlled. Adjustments are really easy, but that rears require the wheel to be removed. That's just due to the shock position. The fronts can be done with the wheel on the car, but make sure to get a jackstand under there for safety. Pricewise, the GC's are ~$400 and the Cattman's are like ~$1300, but that's for the whole setup. If you were to buy the GC's, shocks and camber plates like the Cattman's have, you'd be out a similar amount. There really isn't a question of which is better, until high performance shocks come out for a maxima, the Cattman's are the only real choice for high performance. The ground controls will make your car look nice, but honestly my old Intrax springs provided better handling. This isn't the fault of the ground controls, it's just the the Tokico shocks were better suited to the softer Intrax springs. I'm pretty sure that with equivalent setups, the GC's would handle the same as the Cattman's. So if you've got the money, get Cattman's.
My GC's handle awesome! I have virtually no body roll, it rides stiff, but not bouncy. I've had several people comment on how nice my car rides compared to theirs with Cattman. On the GC's, make sure you order the right spring rates. I would get the GC's and wait for this summer when *supposedly* KYB is going to make the AGX for the Maxima.
