Speedometer and O/D Light

Speedometer and O/D Light
I am totally at a loss for words, I was driving the car today and i look down to see how fast I was going (passed a cop) and i noticed that my speedometer was still at zero. So doing the amateur thing, at the next light I turned off and on the car and then the O/D light flashed like 5 times and everything has been fine ever since. Anyone have a clue???

i have no clue what could be the problem. Check your codes
