Weird thing with our Bose units...
Try putting the volume level around the middle, then quickly turn the volume **** clockwise one click, then counter-clockwise one click. When you repeat this back and forth motion quickly several times, the volume will get louder even though you are not turning it fully clockwise!
I know, kinda lame, but nonetheless amusing.

lots of volume ***** do this.
i have 2 jvc home systems, and they both get louder or quieter (can't remember) when rapidly twisting the volume **** back and forth.
it usually happens to the systems that don't have a measure to the volume (stops at min or max)
the ones that are able to rotate forever sometimes do this (from my experience)
