Spark Plugs

Whats the best spark plug for my 1999 maxima se / automatic?

I have 57,298 miles on the car.. I want to do the spark plugs in 2 weeks. I am going on a road trip. Never changed spark plugs before.. but i heard they are extremely easy! I learn quick.

Will i notice a difference with new spark plugs? I got this car with 49,532 miles on it, and spark plugs in it now are original.

Will i hurt the car by doing it early??

Put the OEM plug back in. NGK Platinum. You can change them now, or wait till you get back. My car has about the same mileage as yours does and it gets great gas mileage on trips. I haven't changed a thing yet, but will do the whole tune up this coming spring.

so the spark plugs help gas mileage? the whole trip is 596 miles round trip. i currently get about 20 city and 28 highway i believe. my saturn was better, but smaller engine = betters gas mileage. I am not complaining by any means.. I love the car.

oh, one more question. I have k&n air filter.. if i actually get a whole new intake kit (piping and cone style air filter and adapters, etc.) will there be a gas mileage difference and performance difference?

Your mileage indicates your engine is running very well. Just leave the plugs alone until your ready to do the whole tune up. As far as changing the intake, it shouldn't effect your gas mileage. BUT - You gotta factor in the WOW MY INTAKE SOUNDS SO GOOD WHEN I ROMP ON IT, and once you do that, you'll get a few less mpg.

You can also open up the stock intake a little and gain some air flow while keeping the car pretty much stock "looking". It's a lil secret mod that I've come up with. Everything stays in place, it just gets a bit religious.

PM me for details.
