Help withj Oxygen Sensor

My CEL came on and I got an 0707 (Rear Heated O2 Sensor). I did a search on this, and people say that it does not affect performance at all.. but it sure as hell is for me, my car has never ran so poorly... so slow. Anyways, I got the sensor and plan on replacing it, but has anyone else noticed a change in performance with 0707 error code? Could there be something else too?

What they tell you is true... It "shouldn't" affect performance... It only checks to see if the catalytic converter is working or not...

You may have another problem (clogged main catalytic?)

Actually, this sounds A LOT like a bad Knock Sensor...
Often, an O2 code is thrown because the KS is bad...

do a search on the Knock Sensor...you'll see!

You got that backwards.

KS codes are thrown do to bad o2 sensors. In that case there called ghost codes because thats not really what the problem is. If the upstream o2 goes bad, the car wount run correctly. Excessive ping may be caused do to an incorrect mixture and that sets the KS code.

So after I replace it, I should be fine? I just don't want to waste $70 on a sensor, if I don't really need it, and infact I needed something else.
