Did you ever get an resolution to this problem? I have the same exact issue with my 99 Max SE. That specific door also makes a weird little chirp when I lock or unlock it.

This must be fate. This morning my rear door on the driver's side did the same thing. It would not work till it got warm in the car. It is the first time this has happened and I just thought it was the cold. Interesting

I would get some good lithium grease and get a little on the latch and locking mechanism in the side of the door. WD40 or similar will work, but I think liquid solutions are usually a more temporary solution. Once the grease works in a bit, it should be good for quite some time.

Edit: As clarification... I meant to take the panel off and move the lock - put grease on any contact points, the latch, and the mechanism on the side of the door.

I saw the same problem on a 91 DSM and as far as I know it has worked ever since (for a couple years now anyway).
