I recently installed the Injen CAI on my 1998 Maxima SE and think there may be a problem. There is a loud and strange metal hissing sound coming from the CAI. I have some friends with the same product who do not have this loud noise during idle.

Does anyone have any experience withthis type of problem and any suggestions?

my friend has a 93 or so integra and another friend has a 98 f150 they both have intake which i installed (they are too stupid) and theres makes a hissing noise......i dont know if that is the right way to explain the noise but i can't think off what it sounds like when they turn there car off

 

check all the hoses and make sure there are no air leaks.

 

mine does the same thing when i turn the car off....sortof a hissing sound.

 

I would recheck all the connections. Mine is nice and quiet...until WOT!

 

If I have my car running at idle, I can hear the engine sucking in air. It sounds something like a really quiet jet engine (think of an airliner sitting on the tarmac during loading with the engines at idle).
