Y-Pipe Install Question
#2
I have a hanger on mine. That one does look a little used though. See if the pipe is sagging at the flex section at all. If not and it doesnt rattle then dont worry about it.

What the heck is that where does that belong? I went through 2 ypipes but never seen that before !!
It looks like its there to hold up the flex section.. Well I dont have it on mine and my cars fine. dont worry about it.

mine was rusted to hell too and it couldn't have been doing much...but a broken flex section was the reason I replaced it I thought it was a pretty elaborate bracket for what it does...must have been an intern that designed it.
i welded a piece of 1/2" tube (or was it 3/8"...?) to the underside of the y-pipe and ran that across to the hangers. I had to put a little offset up in it, but it was pretty easy....I am sure that that mod was going to rust out before anything else though...but the person that bought the car totaled it three weeks later anyway.
Before I install a y on my current max, i'll try to track down appropriate tubing material to go with the y pipe.

Ok, now I brought the car back to the shop and said that I needed the bracket...they put it on and also welded something....now I get the most annoying sound coming from under my car...the sound is exactly the same sound you would here if a small sesna was flying over your car. Little Buzzy, and distant. It seems to come and go, and only when I am stopped. If I have to go back up there it isn't gonna be pretty. Thanx everyone for the help..any future help with this problem is most welcomed...thanks
