Bad Day

It's been a bad day. First, I got a parking ticket at school. Second, (the worst part) I think I hurt my baby (Max). Me and my friend pulled up to the stoplight right in front of my school together. I, being an idiot, decided to showboat for her, show her what my baby is made of (she has an Integra). I rev, put it in first, and accidently push it a little. It peels out, I kind of freak out and get off the accelerator(it lurched a little like it does when I take my foot off the gas in 1st gear), and then being the idiot that I am, get back on the gas. The car starts *shuddering* (for about 2 seconds after I put my foot back on and pull to 3.5K RPM) and shift to second. Has this happened to anyone else, or can someone at least reassure me that I didn't F up my car? Been a bad day...

Oh, and I'm also getting a cavity filled and a route canal in about 2 hours.

LOL! Great story man. Don't worry about it. You got something called wheel hop. Essentially, our cars are over engined, as in the engine surpasses everything else about the car, in this case, the suspension. When applying high torque, there is a tendency for a drive wheel or both drive wheels to come off the ground quickly. When this happens, the wheels rapidly accelerate, and the suspension pushes them back down. When the now over rotating wheels touch the ground again, because of the underdesigned suspension, the wheel hits the ground, and bounces up again.

Don't worry about it. Just don't do it again. It's hard with our engines, and our suspensions. Be careful as wheel hop can break anything from engine mounts, to transmissions, to drive axles, etc.

Thanks for the reply. I was real worried there, and still am as I don't know if anything happened. I've heard of wheel hop, but never experienced it before. I'll get it checked out this weekend if I can. Thanks again. Now I only have to worry about the ticket and my cavities...

Thanks for the reply. I was real worried there, and still am as I don't know if anything happened. Although, nothing felt wrong as I proceeded home. I've heard of wheel hop, but never experienced it before. I'll get everything checked out this weekend if I can, to make sure its alright. Thanks again. Now I only have to worry about the ticket and my cavities...

It should be ok. I've done it a couple times. After a while, you can tell when it's about to happen, and you back off.
