Would a K&N air filter (33-2031-1) (late 96 Maxima) fit a
97 Maxima (33-2031-2)?

 

If you are talking about the box drop-in filter, I would assume so, since there should have been no engine/intake changes between these years, only cosmetic and accessory changes. The best way to be sure is to find someone with a 96 and take actual measurements of the airbox and filter. I'm not saying for sure they will fit, but from what I know, I would think they should match.
