Does anyone know what it means when the red air bag light starts blinking? My air bag light won't stop blinking and I'm not sure what it means. I checked the fuseand it's fine. I hope my air bag doesn't deploy when I'm driving my car. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks,

This information came from the '99 Maxima factory service manual. I believe it applies to all 4Gen Maximas.
Open the driver's door. Note the rubber covered button located low on the B pillar, a button which is pressed by the door when the door is closed. This is the Driver's Door Switch (DDS).
Turn the ignition from OFF to ON. Press the DDS at least 5 times within 7 seconds after turning the ignition switch ON. Turn the ignition OFF. Close the driver's door. Start the engine.
If the airbag warning lamp is still on (or still flashing), there is a fault in the Supplemental Restraint System which must be diagnosed and repaired. This is a job for your local friendly Nissan dealer.

I just started getting the flashing "air bag" light 2 days ago. I tried the DDS method and it doesn't seem to solve my problem. I'm leaning toward my battery as the culprit cause my lights get weak sometime and dim a'lil.
So my next course was to look through the warranty information booklet. under what is NOT covered under the Lifetime Seat Belt Warranty lists:
*Airbags and related electronic control systems which are covered by the Powertrain Warranty. (this means airbags are not covered under seat belts)
Soooo... looking at the powertrain coverage it is covered up to 72 months or 70,000 miles. This would mean I should be in the clear. btw I have a 1998 I30 warranty booklet.

FYI. Just talked to warranty hotline and was confirmed that warrant is up to 72 months or 70,000 miles on Airbags. See page 4 in warranty booklet under Powertrain Coverage under Drivetrain.
