Tranny Question

I now have a manual tranny and it does not have two places to hook up my tranny cooler and temp manifold. Now that i only have one how should i hook it up?

if im not mistaken on the 5spds there is no need for a tranny cooler. so therefore it doesnt have one.

someone else can verify but im pretty sure

Thats what i was guessing. What about the trans temp manifold to get the reading for the trans temp gauge. Can that still work the same?

That's an interesting question!

I've never seen anyone hook up a tranny cooler to a 5 speed.

Yeah i would be interested in doing so since i already have it mounted in the car. Or should i make the cooler for oil? Any point to that? Also where could i tap the tranny for the trans temp sensor?

Thanks,
Justin

No need for a tranny cooler on the 5spd, just sell it or get rid of it.

Isn't manual tranny fluid tooo thick to move quickly through the lines to give a "cooling" effect? Also, you would have to have some sort of "pump" to pump fluid fluid from the tranny, to the tranny cooler, and back.......

Not really, a 75W-90 would flow similar to a motor oil that would be something like a 10W-50 at the extreme ends of the range.

Good point, I hadn't thought about that one.

An oil cooler would be the best idea, especially if you drive hard. Do you have an oil tmep gauge already? If not, you would then!

That's a pretty decent sized cooler you have and anything is better than nothing. Since you already have it, why not put it to use? The biggest concern I would have if it were my car is over cooling of the oil during warm-up and winter time use. I don't know if your cooler has a bypass provision until the fluid warms up enough or not, but that would be something to look into. http://www.jegs.com should give you some good ideas about how to go about installing it.
