I used to get the code on a weekly basis as well and the first time I got the code I had put 87 octane gas in my car. It every once in awhile flipped on again until I changed it. Your best bet is to change it. You most likely need a new one, that will also keep you from second guessing.

Knock sensor will never trip the CEL .. it only pops up with another code.. the best thing to do is to fix the other issue and the knock sensor code will go away

I had the same issue sort of. 0304 was showing, corrected other error code and rechecked a short while later and no 0304.

If you are getting a code after resetting it multiple times, the sensor is probably bad. A KS code will often be accompanied by other codes. Get the other problems fixed first, then recheck for KS code. If KS code comes back, then replace the KS.

After replacing the knock sensor on my car, I noticed an immediate increase in power and mileage.

You should only change the knock sensor when 0304 code is by itself. As was said, it does not light up when only 0304 is present so you have to pull codes if you think your gas mileage and performance has suffered.
