Completed Home made Intake!! Opinions?

I finally made an intake!! With the help of my father, we made a nice home made intake for about $30 using a PVC drain, a metal plate and an APC filter. Look at page 2 of my homepage which I made tonight and there are pics of it as well as how we made it. I am going to install the temp. senser to the end of the filter. Let me know what you think!! Thanks!!

BTW I have not yet installed it, but when I do I will post.

I heard somewhere plastics are better than metal b/c they do not transfer heat as much as metal ones do.

wouldn't you want the heat to be dissapated? aluminum is the best at doing that

I figured that because the entire stock intake sys. was made of plastic, it would be ok to use plastic. Also, i think that where the adapter will be located, it will not experience too much heat.

You have to think of the direction of heat flow. In this case, you have cool outside air being drawn into the engine. You do not want the intake air to be heated up by the engine heat, so a thermally insulating material such as plastic is best for an intake pipe. Same reason why some people use heat wrap on intake pipes.
