I searched around the forum and couldn't find any info on this, although I'll bet it's been asked before (tough time finding the right combination of search criteria!).

Are all Maxima 5 point rims equivalent for the same size, regardless of the year? So if I have a set of 16" tires/rims that work on a 95-96 Maxima, can I swap out the 16" rims for ones from any later year Maxima and be assured they'll fit? Thanks for your help!

Yup. When you look at alot of the sigs here, you'll 95,95,97 etc Maximas wearing all types of other year rims, like some 2000 17s, some 3rd gen 15s. all 3rd, 4th and 5th gen rims are interchangeable.
