Help me with car. Trembles at idle/low rpm.
Hello guys,
Well i have a 1999 maxima gxe with 53,000 miles to start off, its automatic. What is wrong is that at idle the car trembles or very low rpms. It does not do it all the time, its just a small jolt a couple seconds pass and it does it again. The check engine turned on and it was the egr that was messed up. But that is not what is messed up according to my mechanic. He is not really sure. He said that the last cylinder (5th) was misfiring (the sparkplugs), but he doesnt know what is causing it. I changed the sparksplugs the air filter and fuel filter about 2000 miles ago. Can someone please help me.

if you have a misfire in one of your cylinders, you car should have a CEL. clean your throttle body, check your IAC and EGR hoses to make sure they are tight and secure. also check your MAF. lastly, you can always turn up your idle.

I am 90% sure its your coil. What you are having is a misfire. I had the same symptom, but I knew which coil was bad. I changed it out and everythig's ok.
A misfiring cylinder/bad coil will not always light up the check engine light. My check engine light never came up.
Dont just go to the dealer and let them replace all 6 coils for some 500 or 600 bucks. Get 1 new coil from courtesy nissan or DAVEB or whoever and find out which coil is bad by process of elimination.
