I had problems with hard start in cold weather. Changed many parts including starter, pcv, ects, fuel filter, spark plugs, cleaning throttle body. Try searching in the forum for "start" and you will learn alot.

For your problem, it is probably a bad sensor or stuck pcv etc. so start by changing cheaper parts yourself like ECTS, PCV, Fuel filter, spark plugs(get the cheaper copper if you are in budget)and cleaning the throttle body.

Good luck!

check out motorvate.ca for DIY instructions on how to change above parts.

i have a 95 gle too more mile than you and i have gone through 2 or 3 starters. i don't really know what could be wrong probably dealer put in a shtty starter. next time don't let them put in the starter especially for 600 thats outragous go to local auto part store get one with 10 teeth i think thats right(somebody correct me if im wrong) and then just put it in yourself takes 20 - 30 minutes.

I'm gettin' tired of dealers STEALING from car owners!!! $600 to change a starter??? Thats OUTRAGES!!! They need to pass a bill on Congress to prevent dealers from charging hideous prices for simple repairs, such as the predatory lending bill which was recently passed here in GA.

This just happened to me the other day. I knew it wasn't the battery, alternator, or starter, so as soon as it finally started (took a few hours) I drove it right to my mechanic. It turns out I wasn't getting a spark. The plugs which were about 25k miles and 18 months old were black. I got new plugs, cleaned throttle body, and fuel injector cleaner and it runs great.
cold weather + driving with bad thermostat for a week = black sparkplugs

Crank Sensors - There are two of them, one just below the lower pully (REF) and the other is on the bell housing and looks at the flywheel (POS).

They seem to accumulate some micro fine metalic dust on the pickups which causes a weak signal to the ECU. Take them down, clean them up and put them back in place. Your car should start with one crank!
