Idle is way too low (below 500 rpm)

I recently added the home-made intake posted in the forum, and it has been two days w/trouble free driving. Today, however, the idle was kinda rough at around 550, and then the check engine light came on. It threw a 0505 code, so I figured that I just needed to adjust my idle up a wee-bit. So I tried doing it by turning the idle adjustment screw on the IAC when in test mode, but now my baby idles at ~300-500 rpms! I need help! I am going to triple check all of my vaccum lines and IAC hose, but that's all I know to do right now.

hmm, when installing an intake, you shouldn't have to adjust the idle with the screw. try a few things such as checking houses. also make sure your MAF is secured tightly. air leakage will tend to idle low. cleaning out your TB will also help.

a 0505 code means everything is OK

Interesting. My idle started to go funky kinda like that (but it would idle normal then drop to 500 and get rough periodically) after I installed my VI. Found out it was the IAC that was on it's way out. Even though I cleaned it throughly, somehow it seems the "electronics safe" TB cleaner I used damaged it. Dunno if that could be your problem but I would keep it in mind.

Cool man. I completely unscrewed the idle adjustment screw, cleaned it off(it was dirrrty), and reinstalled it and my idle came back up. I cleaned out my IAC a few weeks ago, but I may have to go back in for one more round. Idle is still too low on start-up, but maybe after I clean my TB, IAC, and check my hoses, it should be back to normal. thanks, peace

my idle dropped so low when i first had my intake. i did it the wrong way though. i put on a cone intake and removed every piece and hose all the way to the TB. so i had to turn up the idle. now that i have the mid pipe, it idles way better
