Loose Steering?

Hey all,

It's about 5 degrees up here in Massachusetts and I was wondering if the cold weather has anything to do with the way my Max has been acting up.

First, when I start the car I get a very loud and annoying squealing/screeching sound coming from my engine bay. Is it a slipping belt or chain, because it doesn't do this when it's warm? Also, it is sort of hard to turn the wheels unless I let it warm up for 10 minutes. Is there anything I can do to fix it, or is it just the cold?

Second, the steering seems to be awfully loose, and the car drifts off to the left when the steering wheel is perfectly straight. I think I may need allignment, but I will wait until I put my rims on to get the alignment fixed. Please tell me what I can do to fix it.

Thank you for your help,
MassMax

My '96 I30 did the same and the Inner Tie Rod ends were the FAULT so get your steering checked by a suspension and steering specialist, I bet you this will be the problem ! The tie rods are not so expensive, mine costed $57.00 each at the stealership but you can get them as low as $32.00 if you look for aftermarket ones at partsamerica.com GOOD LUCK
