I30 trans swap question

I am installing an I30 VLSD 5 speed in my '96 max. Which is also a five speed. I need to know what all I need to do this. Mine is a non locking diff, so do I need both CV axles or is just the drivers side different? When I go to the parts store to check on axles, they list a non-locking and a high speed diff. is this what they are calling the VLSD? I just want to have all the parts when I take the car to my mechanic, and I also don't want any suprises. All help is greatly appreciated.

The abs wont matter for the tranny as long as you can use your same axels with the new tranny.

i believe you only have to swap out the driver side axle, but i could be wrong. as for abs, you should be ok. it'd be different if your car had abs and the tranny did not. again, i could be wrong.

at the parts store they had two trans listed a non locking and a high speed diff. is this what they are calling the VLSD? also they had two different part #'s listed for the passengers side axle. I just don't want to buy anything I don't ave to. But at the same time I don't want this install to last but one day, since I cannot be without a car.

Okay, here's the deal, since you dont have ABS, you can use either abs or non-abs axles. When I did my tranny swap, I replaced both axles, but I was going from auto to 5spd. Only the drivers side axle is supposed to be different, the seal is larger on the drivers side, but i know of one member who swapped in a lsd tranny and he didn't change his axles, and he hasn't had a single problem. That being said, you do run a risk, especially since Nissan does offer two different part #'s for the axles. If I were you, I would only swap out the drivers side, check out www.raxles.com they have great prices, and the owner is real understanding if you need to hold onto your old axles for a while. Good luck.
