Cost to install flywheel?

How much does it cost to install a flywheel? I had a problem starting my car and took it to a shop. They said it was the starter and installed a new one. But they also said that the flywheel "teeth" aren't looking to good and I need to trplace the flywheel soon. Also how much do you think it would be if I also installed a new clutch in the process? My car has almost 80,000 miles so I figured during the summer after I catch up with my credit card bill I'll have both installed over the summer and go into debt again. Also want to get the budget over the summer. Damn I'm gonna go broke.

Shouldn't cost much if any extra if you're already getting the clutch replaced. Although this is the only time I think it would be worth getting a new flywheel installed since the gains are fairly minimal for the price.

Thanks for the reply but has anyone done both and have an actual $ figure they can give me. I know that just the parts themselves are going to be about $800-$1000.

when you get the act, you will want to resurface the flywheel, so install for a new flywheel will be nothing since removing the old one is part of clutch install labor. unless you are actually missing teeth though, they are just trying to get you to spend money. i would not worry about a new flywheel, even the lightened flywheels are not worth it imo, they have much less inertia and can be very rough on your tranny since they will engage so easily.
