Got a check engine light but cannot get the codes
I got a check engine light today. I tried to get the engine code by counting the pulses, but the engine light never blinked (always solid). Yesturday I got one my rims fixed, so I was driving with 3 225/40/R18 and one 205/60/R15 which was on the front left. I wanted to put the 2 stocks in front but the guy said he couldn't take the lug out .
4 Days ago I drove without and air filter for like 40 min (only notice the cone intake fell off when I got home). I change the oil today just in case.
Those are the 2 major things that might have cased the check engine light.

If the 2 front tires are different diameters... you may damage your transaxle.
As for the code... If the procedure in the FAQ thread doesn't work... you'll need to hook up a CONSULT or SCANNER.

If you properly used procedure to check code by turning screw on side of PCM case as directed, you should at least get a 0505 code (Means no fault codes identified. ). So try to check for codes again, or use a scanner tool. Don't turn code check screw too far either way!
Don't know how odd tires would cause chk eng light to come one. ABS light might if anything.
And,,,,,,Air Filter fell off? That sucked. Really! Likely cause of ck eng light.

I turned the key to the "on" position and then I turn the screw from its 10 o'clock position clockwise to the 2-3 o'clock position for like 5 secs and then I turn it back. You are saying that I have to see pulses after I reset?

I had trouble getting the codes out of the ECU also. I found that I had to turn the screw to about the 4-5 o'clock position. I heard a ticking sound, so I turned it counterclockwise to the 10 position, and the CEL started blinking. I don't think I damaged anything by turning it to the 4-5 position. There is a mark on the ECU at the same location, so maybe that is what the Nissan people were intending.
Good luck.
Good luck.

I had to turn mine further that instructed also. I think they mean not to crank on the screw or turn it 360 deg.
