Dealer called and wow! This was funny to hear! (long)
I bought my 97 Max this past weekend and have been driving it and loving it. My dad thought (as did I) that it might be a good idea to get a 2nd opinion on it before the 30 day warranty is up. So I dropped it off at a dealer today to have them do a full inspection/check-up on it (minus the computer diag.)
He just called and this is what he said:
Alternator and a portion of the power-steering system are under recall (was it the pump?). The alternator was even an aftermarket one. I told him to go ahead and replace them.
Drive belts are aftermarket and squeaky on cold start (it would be $150 to replace them so I said no since there was no sign of wear).
Check engine light is on, but I'll figure out what the problem is myself (thanks to this site and Haynes manual) and then have the guy I bought it from fix it under warranty (not just reset it).
Ok this is the kicker.
The guy starts laughing and says "OK have you seen your battery because when the guys looked at it we got a pretty good laugh out of it. My daughters power-wheels has a bigger battery in it" At this point I just laughed and told him I would have the place I bought it from replace it since it's obviously wrong.
All in all I'm glad to have spend $82.50 if not for anything else but just a piece of mind that the car is good and Nissan verified it.

some guy told my gf that he can get her any car from an auction for $1000 down and $1000 after.. because she is in FL i can't look it over myself.. i told her if she went through with it.. which i strongly disagreed on... to ensure she got at least 10 - 20 days warranty and spend the 80 or 100 to take it to a mechanic to look it over..
