Tranny Problem???..wats wrong??

I was driving on the highway at about 12mph due to traffic. When i found and open whole i went WOT, however it took a good 3 seconds for the car to take off from the time my pedal hit the floor. It went to 6000 rpm (close to redline) and then took off. Is this normal??? I kn0ow that my throttle body is dirty and a can use a new airfilter..can this be it???

Welcome to the owners of the slush box club. Your car was probably in 3rd gear. When you go WOT, it takes a second or two for it to downshift all the way into 1st again. Thats the delay you felt.

typical Nissan auto tranny

well..
the auto tranny is never silky smooth, even on Toyotas..

but the reaction should be 1-3 seconds i'd say.. depends how and when you nail it..

i say you should really get worried when it does things like this under regular driving conditions. WOT shifts are not always quick..

my tranny takes like 1-2 seconds to shift but is very quick. Maybe your shift solenoid is slipping!!! OUCH I saw the same problems on other maximas...thats the beginning of that problem.
