Control arm bushing replacement???

All my bushings are shot (front and rear). Some people say replace the whole lower control arm (it's easier than replacing only the bushings). How much can I expect to pay in either case?

There's a good hour or 2 of labor in drilling/burning out the old bushings. I tried the replacement of the whole arms last month and we busted one of the endlinks trying to get it off. Total labor saved wasn't that much better. I've seen used front arms for like $100 a pair.

Unless you have a proper hydraulic press, or a vice that just so happens to have the right dimensions, removing and installing bushings is a HUGE pain. And even if you have one or the other, you'll need to get fittings that are the right size to push the bushings out, which usually means a trip to a machine shop.

My suggestion, remove the entire control arm, bring it and new bushings with you to a machine shop. Have them re and re the bushings. They'll probably charge you next to nothing. Heck, show up with a case of beer, and they'll be begging you to come back the next to you need their help.
