HELP?!? Pacesetter STS problem?

I just had my STS installed and it is now making a strange "nail in a can" sound when I let off the gas in 2nd or 3rd. The position of the entire shifter gate has been moved way foreward and now 1st, 3rd and 5th gears slam into the plastic trim of the centre console "thunk" (limiting the shifter from going fully into gear).
This can't be proper? My heat shield has been removed. Could the shifter have been installed backwards? Any help would be appreciated. thanx.

Sence the shifter is adustible i think you might of adjusted it to be too short. or your shift linkage is screwed on to tight, but no there is no way to put it in backwords.

no but i think many of the Pacesetter STS's do that. Main reason why im saving up for a B&M STS instead.

Many people has problem didn't take the time and patient to install it correctly. I installed mine, took about hour and half and I don't have any problem rubbing, too stiff, not returning to center. It's just how maticulous you want to be with your installation. The only big thing I did was to shave the ball down so the shifter can move smoothly.

I took my time installing mine and I have no problems with it. I didn't really shave down the ball either, and it still moves smoothly.
