Air Suspension Questions

Hello, I am new to the boards. I have a 1996 maxima gxe with almost 130,000 miles on it I am still a high school student that got this car for a great deal as his first car Man Im glad I got a maxima over the civic. I want to do some minor mods to it like change the rims and pergaps but a stereo system in. But what I really want to know it you think it is worth hooking up since it has so many miles? Also I want to get air suspension on it. Can someone let me know wher I can buy the parts for this at. All searchs I've tried only show people with it on there cars. Id appreciate the answers from more people experienced with cars and this area. Thank you in advance.

Maxima have the best SIX cylinder engine in its class, that much mileage shouldn’t be a problem. but before you hook up your car. take it for some major maintenance. make the engine and trany and all that checked. then start modifying it. that’s my recommendation. first take care of important parts then start hooking it up. your car will last longer.

Its a gamble with any car to be runnin over 130 thousand miles, but I know people with maximas that have no problems with 160000 miles. A good place to order parts from is www.SouthwestAutoworks.com. They have basically ne thing you could want and really cheap prices. What state are you in? Go in that regional forum for where you live and ask where some good stores are locally. I have air suspension and I love it.

Thanks

Thanks for that great link slammned99' and I will get it checked out. I notice that kit is 100% bolt on. Does that mean this would be an easy project to do yourself? Also I live in pennslyvania in the philadelphia suburb area. Thanks

Before any modding, an engine with that many miles (or ANY motor with that many miles) should get a cylinder compression test.. And have a mechanic OK the car for you.. (mechanically sound)

No problem. I wouldnt recommend installin ne thing on ur car unless you know what your doing. Its to easy to mess things up. For air suspension, I'd let a professional do it, uless you feel u know ur car pretty well. Yeah I know SWA has lots of customers on the east, so you can order from them easily.
