Stalling Problem
Stalling Problem
I am having a stalling problem during start up.
It doesn't happen all of the time but it seems to be more frequent when the engine is cold.
I start the car and the revs jump to 1500 and then they just drop and the car stalls.
If I give the gas a blip the car doesn't stall and seems to run normally.
Anybody have any ideas on what might be wrong?

if you have an ohm meter and or haynes manual (if you don't have them get one). does it start good when warm? if so, i would suspect the temp sensors....meaning the ecu doesn't realize the engine is cold and doesn't give it enough fuel for cold running....blipping the throttle dumps some extra fuel in.
check:
- engine coolant temp sensor
- iacv
- air temp sensor
clean:
- throttle body
possibly replace:
- plugs
- fuel filter

I will have to check the temp sensors.

I have the same exact problem. I too, recently changed plugs, fuel filter and cleaned TB. I have new battery...Went to my mechanic he checked everything out and said everything was fine. So I'm very confused as to why this is happening...and it only happens when its cold outside. Should I ask him to check/recheck if he did already the:
- engine coolant temp sensor
- iacv
- air temp sensor
?

Also, Will this affect anything else?
Having the same problem on my 1998 Maxima SE. Spark plugs were
recently changed (14,000 miles ago) as well as the fuel filter.
The stalling has been unpredictable, but it seems to only occur
during very cold days/nights (below 32F).

Mine appears to be only when it is below 45F but I wouldn't know for sure since it has been cold here for a while
