New Intake Questions...
I just installed my new short cone intake yesterday evening in my '97 GXE and have a couple questions. First of all, I removed all stock intake piping including the short piece the goes to the fender. I noticed a temp sensor(?) inserted in the air path of one of the larger pieces of piping....I ended up pulling the sensor ou of the rubber gromit and zip tying it temporarily out of the way...I asumed that removing it would trigger codes. What is the purpose of this sensor if there is already an intake air temp sensor near the intake manifold? I also had to relocate a "Boost Sensor" that had a couple control wires running into it, as well as a vacume line. What does this little device control? I find it very strange that the car woudl be equipped with such a sensor....any thoughts? I love the sound of the new intake, and once I add a y-pipe and catback I'm sure I will notice the full effect. For now, all I notice is the throatier growl.

There should be a hole that temp sensor fits into. Check your pipe. That temp sensor (I think) is used as part of the calculation the ECU uses to come up with the correct amount of fuel for the mixture. Relocating it won't trigger an ECU code, but if you cut the wires, you'd have the CEL come on. Its really just a thermistor (temperature sensing device).
As for the boost sensor, I'm not quite sure what that does. After a quick serch, it seems that it is a manifold absolute pressure sensor. Basicly, this tells me that it tells the ECU the static pressure inside the manifold. According to posts I found while searching, it doesn't do anything in terms of driveability or power, but a CEL will come on if you remove it or disconnect the hose.
