Who here has cut there coils?

I'm getting the new eibach pro kit put on my car this Friday and a guy I know that works at the Les Shwab I'm getting it done at has a 98 se with the same drop. He told me he didnt notice a change at all and so he cut one of the front coils. For anyone that has done this is it hard and harmful to your car? Also is this guy on crack or can you notice the drop?

My opinion from someone that cuts coils all the times and before the ASE tech dogs get to you and f uck up your post: READ SLOWLY

Return the Eibach springs get some sprints save about $70-$80 and call it the day. If you dont listen to me and be hard headed. Grab those springs and stare at them. Compare them to your stock springs, you will notice that on one side the coils touch very closely thats the side you want to cut a coil off. Only "ONE COIL" and thats it. One coil =one circle. so where the coils starts cut the below coil.

I have one front cut coil up front and have no problems none what so ever not even camber problems but I still say get sprint springs they are great springs and lower the car since that is your goal and dont let no one talk you out of it some here have negative opinions about the springs dont believe the B/**** hype.

Re: Re: Who here has cut there coils?

I'm with Jay i had the Eibach's and i loved the ride with the agx's but i wasnt happy with the drop. So i in turn sold the Eibach's and bought some sprints. They are a little harsher spring i autocross my car so the sprints work great for what i do. But if you need to keep the Eibach's just cut one full coil off. Be carefull as not to cut to many cause those are expensive springs that you dont need to fck up. Brian

I have had a couple of sets of cut lowering springs and to be honest I would recomend saving for coilovers. I think they are a better investment.

I've had my Eibachs cut for 90K miles now and have never had a problem...other than a harsh ride. If you do, do NOT cut more than one coil and keep them clean constantly (wash off salt etc).

Or jsut returen them and get Sprints!

p.s. A new alternative to cutting is heat treating them to "shrink" them down. Loo into that if you don't like the other two options.

Well thanks guys for the input on this.I have till tomorrow morning to make the decision on what i'm gonna do. If I decide to go with the sprint springs where is a good place to get them from and what is a good shock/strut combo with them?

KYB/AGX'S Dont even bother getting anything else. I had the tokcico illumina's the adjustable tokico's and i did not like them at all. They were horible. For the extra money that the tokico's were compared to the agx's i was very unimpressed. agx's are the way to go with sprints. Brian
