Coming in this morning I looked over in the next lane at what appeared to be a white 95-96 Maxima. It first caught my eye because it had a shaved trunk... almost. The Nissan logo and M A X I M A were gone, but there was something else there that had me staring.

There was a small rectangular "Datsun" badge (not the hamburger logo) in the upper left corner of the trunk, and a chrome "Premiere" in the upper right.

Is this a rebadged Maxima? Or someone just goofing around with junkyard badges from an old Datsun and an Eagle Premiere? The last Datsun in the US was in '84. It appeared stock otherwise. The only other hint was the personalized plate that said 'GR8 BRIT'.

I searched this forum and Google w. no results....

 

Nissan makes Premiere's and sells them outside US (i saw a few in Europe).............I don't think it's a european maxima though, as far as I know they sell maxima's there as well (as far as I know they r called Maxima QX)

 

So Nissan still goes by Datsun in some areas of Europe?

 

No they are still Nissans, and they Sell a Primera in Europe I don't think its called a Premiere.

Still haven't seen a photo that looks exactly like what I saw (didn't see the front grill), but I'll keep looking. Hope to see the car again, I'll chase it down and find out what kind of a person rebadges a car (if that's the case).
