That's not possible. First, the collectors are verticle to eachother, making a Y-pipe (looks more like an F) the only scenario. Secondly, there's only room under the car for one pipe - a b-pipe.A Camaro style setup is your best bet. Check my homepage. I used a flowmasters 80-series camaro muffler.

If you want dual fart can's, ahem, I mean mufflers.
TheBigSadler banged out his tire well to do dual mufflers. He did a write up on it.

Re: Re: Double
Could you do a writeup on how you did yours? I am very familiar with the Camaro style muffler having owned several Camaros. just a sketch of how it was layed out under the car would be enough. I'd love to have duals on my Max,(I saw the example where the guy beat the hell out of the spare tire well and that is not something I want to do) buy the way do you get the same through put on both pipes or does one flow more than the other? Any droning with the muffler at certian RPM's?
Thanks

prepare for liftoff!!! those pipes are a tad excessive-
a dual layout would be more efficient if the max had a longitudal engine layout, as opposed to a transverse- any gains you got would be negated by the added weight, you might as well glue an extra pipe on one side of your bumper.. the max doesnt have too much of an exhaust flow issue, putting on a free flow muffler doesnt do too much... possibly a true dual exhaust with shorty style headers, and an x pipe... i really don't think it would be worth the effort, the max is actually pretty well designed, after getting rid of the stock y pipe...

Anyway. He has one of the nicest maximas Ive seen. but he needs a 5-speed.

This might be another way to get a functional dual exhaust without damaging or removing the spare tire well. I was looking at the Borla catalog, and they showed a muffler for F bodies that had a "Y" in the pipe leading in to the muffler (like an exhaust cutout, for you older folks that remember these things).
Anyway, they have plates that fit into the flange with holes of varying diameters, ostensibly to vary the backpressure (and noise) by diverting some of the exhaust flow and bypassing the muffler.
Instead of mounting it transversely, like on the F-body, perhaps it could be mounted f/r and the "Y" pipe before the muffler routed around the spare tire well. You would get the dual exhaust look, but not the "dual muffler" look.
This would probably take some engineering and pipe-bending skills, but probably wouldn't result in as much "modification" to the undercarriage and floorpan.
