HKS Intake

Hey Folks!

I am still pretty new to being a Maxima owner. But I have a '95 Black Maxima GXE 5 Speed. The car was stock when I bought it, it was owned by an older guy so it was taken pretty good care of. I have already decked out the stereo with a new deck, speakers, amp, & sub. But I have also ordered an HKS Intake and clear corners so far for it. I was wondering if anyone has the HKS Intake for their's. Also would like to see some close up pics of the intake and wondering how hard or complicated it was to install.

Thanks!

Ryan

it will look like any other intake here except you will have that foam mushroom filter.

It looks like the kit is a dual filter kit...is this true?

I belive that they have a dual- 2 small filters and the other is a single large filter kit. install on every intake except Cold air intakes are pretty much the same

it is a single Mushroom.

The dual mushroom is either a knock off by Arospeed or an original HKS for a 3000GT.

It is available in the 150mm or 200mm size.
I have the 200mm.
It is mint. Deeper sounding Growl. More responsive on the Low end.

My previous intakes: Stillen, Place racing CAI, Blitz SUS Metal and a standard K&N. All sold. bid with confidence.

Did you like the HKS better than the others listed?

Don't mean to butt in guys, but since you've had all these intakes do you mind telling us which one you liked best and why. I'm just doig a little research for myself.

In order of my Butt Dyno results:

1. HKS: Deeper Growl at WOT
Pedal Feel is more responsive 0to60mph
Better Low End, good "lurching forward at a light"
Filtering Below Average

2. Stillen: Good Sound Tuned, not as deep toned
K&N (Same Filter)
Pedal Feel stronger at Highway speeds 60to80mph
Better & Longer Pull on the Top End
"lurching at a light, wtf...not really responsive"
Filtering was the best.

3. Place Racing: Not as loud, nice rush/woosh sound
Pedal Feel only at Highway Speeds, esp 80+mph
Powerband increased much towards Redline
Took off at Winter/RAIN, too much H2O=vaporlock
Filtering "down there" will always be on your mind.

4. Blitz SUS: Hollow Sounding, not deep at all
NO VELOCITY STACK = No pedal resonse
Felt no low end, bogged down
Seemed only good at the track.
less Low End mean Less Wheel Hop
VERY POOR Filtering

Thanks for the info. Have narrowed it down to a Franken, hybrid or HKS. Was considering a PR CAI but not so sure now.

Awesome!!! That makes me feel better about my purchase! That's exactly what I'm lookin for, I'm taking it to the track coming up within the next few weeks. Racing my buddy's '97 GTP, I know it won't beat it but should be nice. I've raced him off the line and it was dead even till about 60mph then he pulls a lil bit. He's also got a smaller sc pulley and intake, with a minimal exhaust mod. Mine was dead stock...not for long though. :-P

Thanks again guys!!!

Re: Re: In order of my Butt Dyno results:

Well guys!

I finally got my HKS and just got it installed!!! Such an awesome sounding intake! WOT is really sweet now. Not sure if I notice a difference in performance but I'd say it was worth it just for the sound. Thanks for all the help!

Also...just a quick question, how many posts do I need to make before it changes my status from "I finally posted something" to something else??

Thanks again!
