Homemade midpipe

Is there any other material better to use for the homemade intake instead of an exhaust pipe. Wouldn't the pipe get pretty hotter than other materials, therefore heating up the air that is going through it? Has anyone used a PVC pipe, or some other material, Thanks

i made my own midpipe out of 3" exhaust pipe and so far i have no problems. ive had it for like 2 or 3 weeks already. and the weather over here in cali has been warm, contributing to the heat under the hood.

Was the PVC pipe easy to cut? And any problems? Thanks
