upgraded wire harnesses

i got some new wire harnesses for my 9004's. my new bulbs arent her yet, but i went ahead and started on the upgrade. after i changed out the first one i looked to see if i had the wires right and noticed that the side in which i upgraded the harness the light was dimmer. (the side with stock harness was brighter). this is with stock bulbs.

is this normal?
will my new bulbs be as bright as they would in the old harnesses?
whats the dealio?

Just curious, what kind of wiring harness is it? I recently bougth a nokya harness and had the same thing happen to me. The low beams were really really dim. The brights however werereal bright. When i switched the wires the results were the opposite. My low beams were really bright and the highs had become dim. Also, either way i wired it, my high beam signal in my dash was on. Im guessing from the bulbs i put in drawing more power? I asked a mechanic friend of mine and all he could think of was to ground the ground wire better.

mine are nokya, and im havin the same exact things happen to mine. i think , unless i hear other wise im going to match wires in order that are on stock harness to upgrade, the colors will end up being black on green, red on black, green on blue/yellow. i know this makes no sense, but its the only way i can figure, ill keep everyone up to date.

i figured it out. FINALLY!! what you need to do is hold the stock harness and the upgrade harness side by side facing the same direction. then match the colors of the wires to the order in which they are lined.

Ex.-- the stock harness wires with clip side up and wires facing away from me the order reading from left to right is green/blue/black. with the upgrade harnes aligned the same way next to it the wires are red/black/green. so you would connect green to red, blue to black, then black to green.

why they cant make the wires the same color confuses the hell out of me.

but im in a much better mood now that i got it all worked out.

Ill try that. I always thought black would go to black being that black is normally ground.

I installed the Nokya harness. Had ZERO problems. Wire color meant nothing to me. I just matched the corresponding terminal location to the correct wire. I'll tell ya, these things work great!
