Things I learned about engines

-Apparently a 95 engine is obd1. No matter how much I argued with the mechanic, he still claims that.

-Apparently a 98 intake can not work on a 98 engine.. WHAT?! That was my reaction when the mechanic told me that he had to put my old intake on the new engine. This still confuses the hell out of me.

Some 95 maximas have ODB1 but there are some that have the OBD2 system. My 95 SE is one of them. I think that the 95s that were made for the first few months were OBD1, and halfway through the model year they started using the OBD2 system.

this may sound like a stupid question, but what does ODB1 mean?

And if you had done your homework, you would know that OBD II wasn't required until 1996, so eventhough some models before 96 have it, a good portion do not.

Aah, but I did do my homework. I put up a post a few weeks ago, and everyone said that my engine was odb2.

Sorry, I can't help out but I have a 95 and am wondering which system I have. I have a port by my fuse panel that will accept the OBD2 scanner but I don't know if that means I have OBD2. I can't make much sense of it from my FSM - I'll keep trying.

Toolrocks: If your connector states that it accepts OBD2 you got OBD2 for sure in your car !
