I had a exactly same problem.
The solution is to remove the starter and regrease it.
Search the forum and you'll see my post with lots of tips.
This is common problem with 4th gen Max and very easy to fix as well.

relax man... it's easy to fix! If I can do it then you of course you can do it too!
One more thing... if you can't start you car then tap(lightly) the starter (under the intake) with a hammer and if you can start then you need to regrease the starter.
My car had exact same problem and after the regrease the starter works like new one...
Also, when I opened the starter oh man.... the grease was all dried out, too.
Here's the site that tells how to remove and regrease your starter!

Glad to hear that Doodiemax.
When you try to remove the starter then you'll find two bolts holding the starter.
The bottom one is kinda hard to take it off.( about 5 inches long )
You'll need a break bar or something to turn the bolt.
When you regrease the starter make sure you use high-temp grease and don't put too much grease on it!
It's pretty stright forward job and it's good to know that you just saved couple hundred $$$.
Good luck to you man!
