Anyone raced at Limerock in CT ?
I live 45 min away. It's very difficult to get anything setup there. They have something going on almost every day. From racing events to the driving/racing school to club events to tuning and testing days. Why dont you join one of the car clubs that attend there several times a year like Performance Drivers Association? That way you can get an idea what its like before you go spending a fortune to reserve the track - it may not even be possible. I've been to club events there (as crew - not a driver) and have seen people literally drive in their own cars with racing tires in the trunk. I could do this too but I have more respect for my daily driver than that. You can seriously abuse a car at a place like Limerock. Maybe if I had the money to have another car just for the track but I dont. My friend has a 427 AC Cobra that breaks every other time we go out there. It's a good thing we have a trailer. There are numerous regulations your car has to pass before they will even let it anywhere near the track. Such as a roll cage for certain classes, metal brake pads, street legal slicks, racing seats with 5 point harness, fire extinguisher systems etc. Once saw a guy in a Volvo going around the track with regular brakes. In three laps his wheels were on FIRE. I mean there was flames coming out of his wheels. I was a corner worker and had to black flag him.
I'm assuming your talking about reserving the road course right? Not the autocross track? That might be a different matter.
Go to http://www.limerockpark.com and check out the schedule, it's pretty full. And bear in mind, there is no racing in Limerock on Sundays.
In any event, I know several people that attend there regularly in various clubs as well as SCCA. I might be able to give you some contacts.

ok kewl , thanks for the info, my mechanic and his friends (all nissan guys) go up all the time. i dont know if they reserve the track or what , but they dont have cages or anything like that. they say that they pay 125 for the day, and its more like time trials, in order to race you need an SCCA license though, i was thinking about getting a 280z and having it be a track car.
probably a testing day...
It's not actually racing, but there are certain areas where they tell you its ok to pass - with a proper wave by from the "passee". Everyone has to play nice and follow the rules.
280zs make excellent track cars. They're cheap, and fast as hell when you gut them. Actually, 240s - they're lighter.
About the NSX, don't know if it was the same guy, but I saw one roll over there about 2 years ago - it had twin turbos too. Man, if that happened to my own car I think I would haul it out of there and stuff it against a tree on the side of the road somewhere so the insurance would pay for it. That was the same year 2 guys died there. One in a 911 driving in the Porsche Club, and another in a Formula Ford or Dodge (I think it was the racing school). The guy had been saving up his forever to get his chance to drive a real race car and he was too tall for the rollover hoop on the top of the car. You can guess what happened when the car went over.

I think about an hour and a half from Bridgeport. I think you can take RT8 up until you hit RT44 West until you hit RT7 which takes you right into Lakeville (Limerock).
Maybe we could get a group discount at the racing school or something. They do it all the time for businesses.

Also..
It's a great place to just go watch racing. The Dodge Dealer's Grand Prix is on Memorial Day weekend. And the Vintage Festival is on Labor Day weekend. You can get a paddock pass fairly cheap and basically go anywhere - in the garage area, infield etc. It's a great place to just bring a picnic and camp out on the hillside for the day - beautiful scenery. During the Vintage Festival you'll see old F1, Indy and F5000 cars from the 70's and 80's among other things. Really something to watch. Though nothing will every beat the Castrol Gurney Eagle Toyotas from a few years back. Those things made 800bhp from 4 cylinders - reliably. They really pushed the limits of that track. You won't ever see anything faster around that place unless they make changes.
They also have the Ferrari Challenge there once a year if you want to see semi-pro drivers abuse their very own Ferraris.
