I changed my oil this weekend and feel like a dumba$$ this is the first time I have ever done it but I think I may have put 5 quarts in to much. I checked it last night and its above the high line by a good 1 quart. I also just got a check engine light. What are the adverse affects of to much oil. What the easiest way to fix the prb?? Just drain it out and only put the required back in?

5 quarts shouldn't be that big of a deal.. 5 quarts more than it should be.. (9.25 quarts) than thats crazy..

diagnose the CEL and don't associate it with the oil

Right that is worded wrong isnt it. Its 5 quarts I put in not 5 quarts over.
