OKay,
Does anyone know why my foglights keep burning out? I just replaced my fog lights with a 55W bulb about two weeks ago and now the driver side is burnt out. There are no cracks in the fog light itself, no oil/finger prints on the bulb, wires are not burnt. I have no idea what it could be. The fogs ARE rewired but never had a problem with it before. Has this happened to anyone before? If so, what did you do to prevent it from burning out in 2 weeks?

if you are buying aftermarket H3 bulbs, and if its not a set of PIAA's, then you are experiencing what i had for a long time, just check the fuse also, but chances are its the lights, i recommend going with PIAA's cuz they last, so far so good for me, <knock on wood>...

aftermarket H3 bulbs just plain suck.
just put your stock ones back in...thats what i did.

 

i disagree man, the PIAAs are nice, and bright, and they do last, most of my buddies have them and so far so good, some have had them for 2 years...

The problem is that you have a Maxima. I've went through about 15 since I bought the car in August of 01. I'm under extended warranty but the dealer refuses to replace the housing.

What people are saying about the bulbs is somewhat skeptical. I use aftermarket bulbs and my drivers side has never burnt out but my passenger side just runs through them. I believe its the cheap housings that let moisture get in them.

 

yea.. same here.. my driver's side is fine but my passenger side has to be replaced every couple months.. hmm..

 

When I asked for a price on the housing the guy told me somewhere around $180. So it looks like I’m screwed and you are too.

PIAA's are nice, but when you pay 5X more than a regular bulb, they better be.

 

Hasn't been fixed. Still having problems.

New light housing = ~$180
15 foglight bulbs at $7 each = $105

I just replace them each time they burn out. I tried to get it fixed under warranty but the service manager researched for two hours why he couldn't replace it instead of researching for 5 minutes why he could cover it. I think I'm just going to go to the dealer and cause a scene right when they're in the middle of one of their big sales events.

I called another Nissan dealer and they said to make an appointment to look at it and we'll go from there. I haven't had time to make an appointment yet though.
