I just noticed that my muffler is starting to rust, and am curious as to what you guys have done for replacement. How much is the stock muffler? Anybody have a shop do a custom catback? If there isn't much of a price difference, I might just get the Apexi from the group deal. I want to stay quiet, but wouldn't mind a deeper tone and a little extra noise.

really like my HKS muff...

ler. he he I have that with a Stillen b-pipe, and it has a nice low tone, and really growls when I open up the throttle. Ask around, HKS is probably about the quietest upgraded muffler you can get. Still has the deeper tone though.

Does the HKS drone at cruising speeds (~2500rpm)?

HKS rusts. The hangers fall off>>

I recommend Apexi RS(chambered)$199, its very high quality and very quiet. Any aftermarket muffler drones on a Maxima. Its just the way the engine is tuned, I know cuz I've tried everything to get rid of it. I currently have 2.5" custom catback with resonator and Apexi N-1 muffler. Its very deep and loud but pop in a silencer and voila!
-silence-
I had Stillen but that rusted too, I've had Apexi over a year now with NO rust. Very high quality.

Apexi muffler question.

I see you recommend the apexi RS universal muffler.
Do you know which on is it at the Apexi site.
there are 3 in the pic. which one is it? I am looking for
a quiet muffler replacement (I have the Stillen y-pipe)
and the Apexi brand comes up pretty often. It's also reasonably priced.
Thanks

Which A'PEX muffler are we talking about?

I am also interested in a nice low tone. I am interested in air flow, not having my rig sound like a bee buzzing down the street.

Can someone give the part number for the muffler we are talking about?

Thanks!
