Budget y installed wooo!

did the install this morning, no suprizessss go figure, im very pleased with the turn out, the car is a good deal louder than before with the OBX exhaust, the power is awsome over 3000 rpms, the max sounds just damn mean now, I did notice that after the install the top of the exhaust is progecting out maybe 1/2 inch or so, but thats not bad. 2 thumbs up from a 98 max in NM!
maximadriver.com how-2 helped, thanx

I have a budget y also and I am not very impressed with the sound and I am thinking of getting a new cat-back. Is your OBX rice loud or does it have more of a v8 growl?

I'm going to install my new Budget this weekend. With the budget, the precats are totally removed right? Also, do I need to find a O2 plug? Looking forward to the install.

the obx + budget combo sounds deep and throaty like a V8 in a V6 version, the sound start off quiet then builds very rapidly through the rpms, sounds like a tuned 300ZX or Supra with a good exhaust, sounds really good IMO, not "ricey" at all, no one would mistake the sound for a 4cyl car.

the o2 sensors have bungs so you dont need plugs, its take the stock off replace with Budget and bolt everything together just like puting the stock back on pretty much, I did this by myself so it isnt hard.

Your car isn't going to sound like a V8 because it isn't a V8.
It can have a deep throaty sound but not a V8 sound.

...but you don't have a y-pipe so that comment is just heresay...I have heard some larger V6's that have the V8 rumble. I'll be sure to report after the install.

Thank you very much. There are a couple of things I am looking to do to my car. I need to get springs, shocks, rims, tires, and ECU. Money isn't a problem, I'm not 19 or 20 so. I just need to decide which to do first and if the sound it too ricey I will never hear the end of it from my wife she hates when I do anything to my car.

y pipe with a catback is a nice combo and will definitely make your exhaust tome louder...V8...maybe not

Confused's(Brett) Maxima definitely sounds like a V8. I don't know what exhaust he has though.

hey guy

i had a warpspeed y pipe (AL MB ), warpspeed b pipe, and magnaflow street series muffler installed today ... its incredibly awesome ! the car is faster, i really feel more power, and the engine seems to be more relaxed and less stressed when getting into her. i also have a JWT Intake on the car ...she is a 5 speed manual and its just awesome .. the overall sound is TOPS ! Beautiful ! I have no idea what HP gains I got out of it all ...but i tell you she is a real treasure now ... magnaflow has a site with sound files. its real close to the volkswagen, i love that volkswagon sound, i think mines better but in a different way ... the volks sounds a hint more race like.. but overall i like mine better ... its beautiful ...also their is an acura rsx or something on their as well ... my max kills that one.. much better ... i hope to post some of my own sound files on the web soon ... thanks warpspeed and magnaflow ...! AWESOME !

Thanks for your link. I read through your installation. One question, how do you reset the ECU? Also are you happy with the Budget (looks like a Budget)? Is it hiss free at cruising speed and light acceleration. Have you noticed the y-pipe hit the underbody under hard acceleration?

Thanks,
Jeff

I have no problems so far with the y hitting anything or bees in a can, or anything, I did notice a mild hiss in the upper rpms, but nothing bad at all, I wonder if I should reset the ecu also,,, hmm
