Hazard Flasher Button Bulb
Hazard Flasher Button Bulb
I noticed today (ok, more like tonight) when I was driving that the hazard flasher button on my console doesn't illuminate any more. Are there any bulbs in there or anything that I can change to make it light up again? If there are, how do I do it? I changed the bulbs for my climate control before, but the button looks different, with all the wires coming into the back. Please help. Thanks.
Yeah, you can. You'll need to remove the center vents/clock/button trim piece. Just grab the two adjusting nubs on the vents and pull straight out towards the rear of the car. It will be tough but it will come out. Be careful though and don't pull your vents apart. Take your time and some steady pressure. Once you have it out, disconnect the wire harness from the hazard switch and remove the switch from the trim piece. Take the switch inside to a nice well lit area and take it apart. There are several little plastic tabs that hold the switch together. Take your time and observe how the switch comes apart. It's 3 pieces and has a spring inside of it too. When you have it apart you'll see two bulbs inside. One is for night illumination and one is for indicating that it's on. Remove the little rubber thing that the bad bulb is attached to. It will slide right off. Go to radioshack and get a similar sized bulb. They have one rated at 12 v dc and works great - I just don't remember the #. Use the old rubber thing and thread the new bulbs leads into it like the old bulb's were. SLide it back onto the switch - it doesn't matter which side you put up - it's not polarity sensitive. Now, the hardest part, reassemble the switch. The spring is a 8itch and take your time. Good luck. I'm going to rest my hands now.

It is a bulb, not an led. Make sure you get a 12 volt bulb. As for the harness, I think it's one clip that you push in to unlock and then you pull the harness out. I can't remember for certain. It's fairly straight-forward though, just be sure to study it before you do attempt it. Good luck.
