Ignition coil help

I have a 1999 Nissan Maxima which uptill now gave me no trouble whatsoever. Recently it started doing "Hiccups" (as mentioned in some of the threads)and the CEL light came on (a couple of times earlier I also noticed the light flashing). I took it to the dealer for dignostics and he told me to replace all the 6 Ignition coils.

I am debating if I should give it to the dealer and spend the $700 or do it myself. I was looking for suggestions from the board on how to go about fixing it myself.

Thanks in advance.

Changing out the coils is very easy. If you have a socket wrench and a screwdriver you should beable to do it. The manual on '95 shows how to take them out in order to change the plugs. So you don't need a Haynes or Chilton book. If you can't find the coil at a junk yard, goto http://www.nissan-auto-parts-dealer.com/ and get them for about $65 each.

Changing the ignition coils are a DIY job. If you read the stickies at the top of the forum on how to pull codes from your ECM computer, you may be able to tell exactly which coil is bad, and then you will only have to replace one.

I have a '99 SE and I have replaced 1 coil so far

You may not even have to change all the coils, just find out if one or two are nto working correctly, save yourself time and money. And gain experience
