Shaving trunk...

Has anyone out there shaved their taillights & key hole? I went to a shop and was quoted a price of around $600. Is that about right? If someone could tell me how much they were charged and if it was anywhere near Va. I'd appreciate it. Thanks
-Steve

it'll cost ya adn you'll be screwed if the poppong mechanism fails. I suggest just painting your keyhole the color of your car. From a distance, it looks like it's been shaved.

$600 is a tad bit on the high end. Does that include shaving the antenna?

Shaved is nice

600 was for the Tail lights and the keyhole not for antenna. I mainly want the lights on my trunk shaved - I figured since they're working on it they might as well take the keyhole off too. How much should that cost...tail lights and keyhole?

wow, never thought about shaving the inner lights. I would love to see a photoshop of it. You'd probably be one of the first.

$600 to shave the inner tail lights and keyhole? That's not too bad then. Are you sure u want to shave the inner tail lights? What would u use as back-up (reverse) lights?

I haven't seen the new carbon fiber tail lights up close but it looks like I might be able to rig something in the turn signal part of the outer lights...I think it's clear. I'm also thinking of looking into something like the eclipse - putting the reverse light on the bumper. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I like your idea Steve. Maybe you can photoshop the shaved trunk and the reverse lights on the bumper. Make it look totally unique.

That sounds like it would look good. And for reverse lights you can use the little corner bulbs that dont blink and they just light up (for 95-96 you would have to buy euros) . As for shaving the key hole i didnt have the money and i didnt want to be screwed if something happend so i cut out a hole in the back of the GT-R emblem addhesive and put it over the key hole and it looked shaved off. But it would be cool if some one photoshoped the light shaved off.

I use my Viper remote or the trunk trigger on the driver's side door panel. Who here ever bothered to use the key to open the trunk anyway?
