How many people doing 300+ Miles Per Tank in NYC ?

I bet whoever is doing 300+ Miles per tank are either living in less congested states as compare to NYC. I get barely 275 from my tank as I drive in/to Manhattan mostly and Brooklyn, Queens area. I just want to know that people who do 300+; where they been driving? Is their driving as such intense as in NYC? Or NO? Please post.

dude man, you've posted this comment (or something to it's effect) in like 4 different threads. We get the point: It's harsh driving in NY. Or you could do what everyone in my area does: Commute 45mins-1 1/2 hours each way to get to work. Watch how fast your gas goes then.

Anyway, back to your original question.... I get roughly 23MPG. At least that's what i did last tank, with a few hard starts, and turning my car off if i was going to be sittng for more than 3 minutes. All the driving i do is suburban/highway. With this tank, (from full) i've gotten roughly 180 miles, and i'm at a little over half a tank. I've driven it more like a grandma with this tank, with only a few hard starts, and a little revving, only to hear the intake growl. Hope this helps.

I live in Blacksburg, VA (home of Virginia Tech) and my travel radius is generally within 3 or 4 miles. I usually get to about 280miles before I have to fill up again (before the fuel light comes on).

I got 375 miles to one tank of gas recently up here in Maine. We don't have a lot of roads in my area that have very high speed limits, so driving around 55MPH in 5th without stopsigns is good for the gas milage. I usually get around 320MPG when I hit the interstate at 75-80MPH.

These threads are funny. I always thought that most of the org was unfortunate and got crappy gas mileage since my 95 gets 400 miles per tank (16 gallons). Then when we got my wife's 2000 sometimes she can barely get 315-325 per tank before fillup. Maybe I just have a gas freak maxima. I know it cant be maintainence or easy driving because I do neither.

it's funny cause i get about 200 miles for the first half of the tank.. but from halfway down to E it's like as if i was driving a hummer.. it goes down rather quick.. i'm lucky if i get 80 to 100 miles for the second half of the tank... i'm going to start refilling whenever i hit the half tank mark.
i do mostly city driving and go wot a couple of times.. nothing crazy, gas is not getting any cheaper damn.

I commute daily and get about 375 miles/tank in NorCal. Last couple tanks I have averaged close to 23 MPG.

In the summer I get around 22.5-23mpg, 360-380 to a tank. If I'm doing only highway driving I get about 24-25mpg. During the winter I'm lucky to get 18mg, about 310 to a tank.

even the so called 'highway' driving in NYC is not even close to what real highway driving is elsewhere.. chances are, the nyc highways = city driving in other places.

i just got 336 miles to a full tank until the light came on. this is driving around staten island, brooklyn and manhattan, and driving there and back on the belt parkway a lot. i calculated my mpg and i get around 23-24 mpg.. in this so-called 'mixed' highway/city.

our highway driving typically involves lots of braking and acceleration as well.. with speeds at around 40-60 mph.. also all the congested areas like ramps and merging areas..

the city driving is bumper to bumper, stop lights every 20 seconds, etc..

so anything over 17 mpg is decent. even though the maxima is rated at 21 mpg in the city by EPA.

are you sure you fill up to the top?
i filled up the other day, 28$ for a full tank!

also...

don't judge the milage you get by the fuel gauge markings...

last tank, i was able to drive a 100 miles until i even got to my 1/4 tank mark.. then i was able to get around 80 until the 1/2 mark.. after which it dropped very fast until almost near the 3/4 mark.. and then it went very slow again..
i squeezed 336 out of it... but i didn't take it past 4k rpms even once.. basically babying it, shifting at 2.5k.

when i drove to long island for school 3-4 times a week.. i was getting around 370 miles per tank and then some.. and this still involved some traffic jams and city driving.. although about 85% highway..

$28 for a full tank? Damn I wish it were that cheap. . . Try $38 to fill up my tank today. . . $2.29/gallon is killing me right now.
