kumho HP4 716's anyone?

In my search for an ALL SEASON tire, with my priorites being low noise, $, wet/snow traction and tread wear in that order I like the reviews I've read for the Kumho Ecsta HP4 716 ( 205/65-15) on tirerack.

My main concern is tread life, some ppl here mentioned poor life on the summer 712's. I'd like to hear from ppl who have used the kumho 716's.

I really like the price; $40, but if they wear out quickely Dunlop A2's will be cheaper in the long run. I reposted this here as more ppl would have 15" wheels on this forum.

Re: kumho HP4 716's anyone?

I bought a pair of these (205/65/15) about 18,000 miles ago and initially had them on the front, but I had a little more tire squeal (and less grip) than I ideally liked when pushing hard. So I moved em to the rear and got me those Yoko YK420's (Avid?) for the front and they were pretty good. I went this way for about 17,000 miles.

HOWEVER, recently - it was time to rotate the tires and I switched them back to the front and this time around - they are much - much better. In fact I really like the 716's in the front now. One way or the other - they have a lot of grip when pushed hard and a lot less noise this time around.

AS for the wear - they hold up pretty well. Probably about 65-70% thread left after 18k miles (although the tires spent most of the time on the rear getting less wear).

anybody else?

I just saw the thread about costco having $60 off in June, but tirerack had poor reviews on snow traction for the Bridgestone RE950's. Ohh but the convenience of getting tires from Costco.

I've got your same size on my car right now, and they work great.

I recently purchased some 2k1 16" rims for the car, and they make the HP4 716's in 225/55/16 for $63, so I might go with them again. No, they don't make them in the stock 'maxima' size, 215/55/16, but the 225's are only 0.3" taller than the stock tires, so the difference shouldn't be significant.

Good Luck!
